VIRTUAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

Innovation Storytelling for Design, Product, and Tech Leaders

Your team has smart people with loads of ideas. But when it's time to pitch to executives, the ideas die in the room because the storytelling wasn't aimed at the right audience.

This workshop gives your leaders (and their teams) the skills to change that. They'll learn to frame ideas in the language executives care about, anticipate and disarm objections before they surface, and walk out of the pitch with confident next steps.

Built for VPs and Directors leading teams in design, product, engineering, marketing, and digital operations who are tired of watching good thinking go nowhere.

What teams are saying...

This was the best workshop I’ve been to. My pitch had almost written itself by the time we were done. I now know exactly where my gaps were and how to fill them.

Is this your team right now?

You've invested in talented designers, product managers, engineers, marketers, and digital operations leaders. They're excellent practitioners and deep subject matter experts. But when it comes to getting senior leadership to say yes, they struggle to break through.

They leave executive reviews without buy-in, carrying a long list of objections instead of a green light.

They spend too much time on project details while leadership is waiting to hear about risk, ROI, and the competitive pressure their idea solves.

Nobody taught them how to connect those dots.
So they walk out discouraged, and silently decide it isn't worth the effort to try again.

Here’s what  this belief  is costing your organization:

  • Your best people start to disengage. Repeated rejections without explanation breed discontent, disengagement and, eventually, turnover.

  • You become the bottleneck. Every initiative that needs momentum has to go through you (their leader) because your team hasn't established the credibility to carry things forward on their own.

  • Competitors start to gain the advantage. Every quarter spent pitching in circles is a quarter a competitor uses to ship something that could disrupt the industry.

The good news is, this is a learnable skill.

Your team can develop it faster than you might expect and it can become their secret weapon.

Research shows that only 23% of employees say their leaders are effective at communicating upwards and gaining alignment.

What if your leadership team could become part of the 23% that communicate confidently and drive innovation for the organization?

This was built with you in mind.

This workshop is for leaders in tech organizations whose teams are:

  • Getting "no" or "not right now" from stakeholders and not understanding why, or how to change it
  • Pitching in tactical, project-based language that’s too in the weeds and not connected to strategic goals and executive language
  • Struggling to translate their work into the kind of narrative that moves decision-makers, even when the work itself is strong
  • Waiting on you to sponsor every initiative forward rather than building their own momentum
  • Missing the data points that would make their case undeniable, and not sure where to find them

THE 5-STEP INNOVATION PITCH FRAMEWORK

A repeatable system for any idea, any audience.

Step 1: Evaluate the Idea

Before pitching, stress-test the idea the way an executive will. Market fit, strategic alignment, risk vs. reward, execution feasibility. Your team learns to do this work before walking into the room, not after getting pushback.

Step 2: Gather the Evidence

Find the business and customer data that makes the strongest case. This step covers which numbers executives actually weigh, and where to find them when you don't have them yet.

Step 3: Test Your Riskiest Assumptions

Run lightweight experiments to validate your thinking before asking for significant resources. Show that momentum has already been created.

Step 4: Know Your Audience

Map what your specific stakeholders care about before you pitch. Understand how to frame the cost of inaction and use it to incentivize timing and resourcing.

Step 5: Write the Pitch

Use the Essential Building Blocks framework to write a clear narrative that drives a decision. Includes a specific AI prompt that takes you from messy notes to a strong first draft in minutes.

What Makes This Different

Most communication training covers generic leadership techniques that don't account for the real dynamics of influencing upward inside a fast-moving, cross-functional tech organization. The frameworks are too broad to be useful when you're trying to get a specific executive to say yes to a specific idea.

This workshop is built for that exact context.

........

Built for large organizations, not startups.

The examples, language, and frameworks are designed for leaders pitching to VPs and C-suite stakeholders who are risk-averse, time-constrained, and skeptical of initiatives that don't have an immediate business case attached.

........

We do the work in the session.

Everyone brings a live idea to the session. The building blocks they develop during the workshop are ready to refine and use right away.

........

Preparing for objections is part of the process.

Your team will anticipate the specific pushback they'll receive and prepare credible responses before they're in the room. This is the piece most trainings skip entirely.

........

Facilitated by a leader who has done this at scale.

This isn't your standard HR training. I've spent more than two decades leading design and technology teams at Fortune 500 companies. And I’ve helped train internal teams based on collaborations with TechStars accelerators.

We teach what works in the real world.

Expected Outcomes

After the workshop, your leaders will have:

  • The building blocks for a real pitch, ready to activate right away
  • The 5-Step Innovation Pitch Framework as a reusable playbook for any future idea
  • A working vocabulary for translating their work into business impact, risk, and ROI
  • An understanding of executive objections and challenges they're most likely to face
  • AI prompting strategies to accelerate pitch drafting
  • A greater sense of confidence that their ideas will land and the motivation to commit to practicing
